Who needs a physician delegation of laser and cosmetic medical procedures in Kentucky?

Issued by Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure, at step 4 of 6 in the opening sequence: get the permits for your kind of business.

1 of the 20 kinds of business in Kentucky

The Board treats laser treatment, including hair removal, as the practice of medicine: a physician performs it or delegates it to a nurse or other professional with documented training and current competency under the physician’s plan of care, and injectables are prescribed and overseen by a physician or other prescriber. An esthetician may not perform laser treatments except under the immediate supervision of a licensed physician. The medical side of the business belongs to a licensed practitioner.
