Who needs a certified food protection manager, where the local code requires one in Missouri?

Issued by Your local public health agency, at step 4 of 6 in the opening sequence: get the permits for your kind of business.

9 of the 20 kinds of business in Missouri

The state Food Code does not require a certified manager; the person in charge must be able to show knowledge of foodborne illness, HACCP and the code at every inspection. Many local agencies go further and require at least one certified food protection manager per location, among them St. Louis City and County, Kansas City and St. Charles, Clay, Greene and Boone counties, and several also require a food handler card for every employee. Ask your health department before opening.
