Who needs a brewery manufacturer license and brewery retail license in Alaska?

Issued by Alcohol and Marijuana Control Office (AMCO), for the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board, at step 5 of 6 in the opening sequence: alcohol permits.

1 of the 20 kinds of business in Alaska

The 2024 rewrite replaced the old brewpub license: a taproom now holds the manufacturer license to brew and the retail license to sell its own beer by the glass on the premises, within the daily per-person limits in AS 04.09.320, and to go. Neither license counts against the population cap. The federal TTB brewer’s notice comes first, and the city or borough may protest the application.

Step 5 of 6: Alcohol permits

  1. Set up the business
  2. Register for tax
  3. Approve the space
  4. Get the permits for your kind of business
  5. Alcohol permits
  6. Before the first hire
