Who needs a medical direction of lasers and injectables in Minnesota?
Issued by Minnesota Board of Medical Practice; Board of Nursing; Board of Cosmetologist Examiners, at step 4 of 6 in the opening sequence: get the permits for your kind of business.
Laser and light-based treatments and injectables are the practice of medicine: performed by a physician, physician assistant or advanced practice registered nurse, or by a nurse under a patient-specific order after a practitioner’s exam. Cosmetology and esthetician licensees may not use lasers; an advanced practice esthetician may use the limited devices the rule names. Put a licensed prescriber in charge as medical director with written protocols, and keep the cosmetology services in a licensed salon.
