Who needs a physician direction of laser and injectable treatments in Nevada?

Issued by Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners; Nevada State Board of Cosmetology (advanced estheticians), at step 4 of 6 in the opening sequence: get the permits for your kind of business.

1 of the 20 kinds of business in Nevada

The Board of Medical Examiners treats laser hair removal and other cosmetic medical procedures as the practice of medicine: a physician assesses the patient and the laser is operated by the physician or delegated to a physician assistant or nurse under the physician’s supervision. A cosmetologist or esthetician may not use a laser; an advanced esthetician licensed by the cosmetology Board may perform nonablative device treatments only under the supervision rules the medical Board adopted. Injectables are prescribed by a physician, physician assistant or advanced practice nurse and given by them or by a nurse under their order. Put the medical director agreement and protocols in writing before opening.
