Who needs a Brewer’s License (BW), or a Brewpub License (BP) for a restaurant or bar that brews in Texas?

Issued by Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, at step 5 of 6 in the opening sequence: alcohol permits.

1 of the 20 kinds of business in Texas

A taproom pouring only its own beer takes the Brewer’s License: it is a manufacturer license and allows up to 5,000 gallons a year sold in the taproom plus to-go sales, with a 288-ounce daily limit per customer. A place that also wants a kitchen, other brewers’ beer or a full bar takes the Brewpub License on top of a retail permit (BG, BE or MB), with a 10,000-barrel production cap. Federal approval comes first either way.
