Who needs a physician oversight of laser hair removal and cosmetic medical procedures in Oklahoma?

Issued by Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision; Oklahoma Board of Osteopathic Examiners, at step 4 of 6 in the opening sequence: get the permits for your kind of business.

1 of the 20 kinds of business in Oklahoma

Laser hair removal is done by a licensed health professional or by a laser practitioner who has completed the training the Act requires and works under a physician’s written protocols; the physician does the initial evaluation and must be reachable during the procedure but need not be present. Injectables and other energy-based treatments are medical procedures ordered by a physician, physician assistant or nurse practitioner and delegated to nurses within their scope. A cosmetology or facialist license alone does not allow lasers or injections.
