Who needs a retailer permit: beer, wine or liquor (one-way, two-way or three-way) in Indiana?

Issued by Indiana Alcohol and Tobacco Commission, after a hearing before your county’s local alcoholic beverage board, at step 5 of 6 in the opening sequence: alcohol permits.

6 of the 20 kinds of business in Indiana

Apply online; the Commission’s application checks whether a permit is available in your jurisdiction, then the county’s four-member local board investigates, hears the application and votes before the Commission issues the permit. Quotas are reset after each census. Certain restaurant three-way permits in designated areas are issued outside the quota by auction, with a $35,000 minimum bid. Every employee who serves alcohol holds an employee permit from the Commission. Ask the Commission for the permit term and whether a quota permit is available in your city before signing a lease.
