Who needs a physician diagnosis and delegation of laser and cosmetic medical procedures in Arkansas?

Issued by Arkansas State Medical Board, at step 4 of 6 in the opening sequence: get the permits for your kind of business.

1 of the 20 kinds of business in Arkansas

The Board treats the use of medical lasers for cosmetic purposes as the practice of medicine. A physician must personally examine the patient and prescribe the treatment, may delegate only minor procedures to staff trained in them, must stay reachable for complications and keeps a record of who performed each procedure; the physician remains responsible for the delegated work. Injectables are likewise prescribed by a physician or an advanced practice nurse. Estheticians and cosmetologists may not operate lasers or intense pulsed light devices.
