Who needs a retail pet store registration; local kennel permit in Arkansas?

Issued by Arkansas Department of Health (Retail Pet Store Consumer Protection Act); your city’s animal services office, at step 4 of 6 in the opening sequence: get the permits for your kind of business.

1 of the 20 kinds of business in Arkansas

The Act covers only retail stores that sell dogs or cats to the public and sets the disclosures, health certificates and refund or replacement rights a buyer gets; breeders, kennels and shelters are outside it. Grooming and boarding alone need no state animal license, but ask the city’s animal services office whether a kennel permit applies and the Department of Agriculture’s Feed Division about a feed facility license before selling pet food or treats.
