Who needs a county pet shop, kennel or animal facility license in Maryland?

Issued by Your county’s animal services or permits office, at step 4 of 6 in the opening sequence: get the permits for your kind of business.

1 of the 20 kinds of business in Maryland

Maryland has no state pet shop or kennel license; the county licenses the facility after a zoning check and an inspection. Note that Baltimore County licenses grooming parlors as holding facilities, so ask your county before assuming grooming alone needs nothing. State law also requires a county kennel license for anyone breeding and selling from six or more litters a year.
